Raven will soften the sun for "Call of Duty: Warzone"

Visual effects artists at Raven have promised to tone down the blinding lens flare effects of Call of Duty: Warzone's new maps.

The response came after players began complaining that Verdansk '84's stunning sunny weather made gunfights painful, prompting one Redditor to suggest adding sunglasses as loot. One Redditor suggested adding sunglasses to loot. Some noted that the lens flare problem existed before the new map, but the general feeling seems to be that season 3 has dramatically exacerbated this problem: Verdansk is just too glaring, and the sunglasses are too bright.

When interviewed by Dexerto, Raven VFX artist Reed Shingledecker asked if this was really a problem, and if so, could it be fixed quickly and easily.

Shingledecker explained that he could not fundamentally change the lighting of the map, but he could make certain effects such as lens flare, dirt, and glare visuals a little less oppressive.

"The only thing I can adjust is the brightness of the lens flare on the screen," he wrote in a follow-up tweet.

"This includes the rays of light on the building and any smudges on the screen. You cannot control the haze, God's rays, or the actual brightness of the sun."

Shingledecker said he would start working on these fixes today, so it seems likely that noticeable changes will be coming fairly soon. Still, I think Raven really should add sunglasses to its loot.
