A Place In The West is a long-running Half-Life comic that first appeared on Steam in 2016.The story takes place between Half-Life and Half-Life 2 and follows a man named Albert Kempinski and human scientists Leila Poirier and Dreyfus with the help of a vortigernt named "Vortigernt", are looking for his kidnapped daughter. They end up in a mysterious city called New Franklin, where the key to defeating an alien invasion is hidden.

The officially licensed Half-Life comic has just released the seventh chapter of the saga, called The Dark Between the Stars. According to the comic's creators, this chapter marks the halfway point in the story, when the city of New Franklin is plunged into civil war.

"Leonard Banks, the power plant director, issues an ultimatum to Cormac Long and Sejal Rajani. When neither Long nor Rajani comply with his demands, Banks makes good on his threat and unleashes a swarm of Antlions on the city limits. As Long scrambles to secure a breakthrough, Rajani rallies the opposition for an all-out assault on the city hall, believing it to be his last chance to capture Long and seize control of the city.

If you have not read the comic, you can download and read the first chapter for free, but each additional chapter (including the new Chapter 7) costs $1.99. Chapter 7.5, an interlude, focuses on Leila's Eastern European origins and is scheduled for later this year.
