Nvidia Releases GPU Hotfix for 120Hz 4K Monitors and TVs

A hotfix has been posted on Nvidia's support site that addresses issues with connecting a gaming PC to a high-resolution 4K TV or monitor. 466.55 hotfix is based on Nvidia's latest driver 466.47 and addresses two issues:

We assume that the first issue will affect more people as they move to enjoy the latest games at the highest resolutions and increasingly higher refresh rates. To be fair, this is probably more of a factor for the latest 30 series (Ampere) cards, and this hotfix is for older generation cards. The second fix is also quite important if you enjoy a little VR in front of a big screen TV.

This hotfix does not appear on the main driver download page, so you will need to go directly to the hotfix support page. It should be incorporated into the next big driver rollout, so if neither issue affects you right now, you may pass on it for now. [Though it can get cranky if the control panel is not installed on the C: drive.

A good way to choose is to look at what is already installed. Right-click on the desktop, select "Nvidia Control Panel," and click on the "System Information" link in the lower left corner. Next to the "Driver Type" entry under the version number, you will see the current installation type.
