This gaming setup is the ultimate flight and racing sim battle station.

I took a peek at Sweclockers this morning and discovered a gem of a gaming setup called SIMPIT. Not sure about the name (is it Sim-pit or Simp-it?), but it's a battle station for sim enthusiasts. And this modder has more in store.

Naicro's SIMPIT is actually an older design, but it deserves credit for this huge amalgamation of high-end gear: Virpil flight controls, a ClubSport driving setup with hot-swappable wheels, and a VR headset. With the selection, this setup jumped straight out of the sim-based dream and into reality. It comes with an Ultra HD 49-inch curved Samsung monitor, attractive peripherals, and even an intensely immersive Batkicker Gamer 2.

Just off the keyboard are a Logitech flight panel and a couple of iPads. These are secured by, as Naicro explains in the comments, "the iPad's back cover mounted on an aluminum profile that slides on rails for the extendable keyboard."

And they lament, " It certainly could have been made nicer, but it was made from something I had lying around in the garage." It is quite resourceful and even more tasteful. Still, if I had the money for all this equipment, I would have asked someone to assemble it all for me, leaving me with two VR headsets.

I was a little disappointed that the Alienware PC shell only comes with an RTX 2080 Ti. However, I soon discovered that there is an updated version of this setup: the "Sim-Lab P1-X SFX-100 DIY Motion Sim Rig for space, flight and race.

Completed just a month ago, this new version has many of the same features as the old version, but is powered by an Nvidia RTX 3090 and Intel i7-10700K combo and is "100% DIY, 3D printed parts and industrial It has a motion system that is "100% DIY, made from 3D printed parts and industrial grade components sourced from unknown sites around the world".

As a motion rig, this new setup "uses telemetry input from the game and translates it into up to 2G of motion with motors in each corner. This is the main difference from the previous setup, which, besides the hardware inside the rig, adds a couple of additional monitors and a VR headset.

The trickiest part was setting up the motion, Naicro explains, "We had a lot of work to do. However, they are quite happy with the final product and "we don't intend to change a single thing.

When we asked Naicro about the total cost of the setup, they said, "We'll have to get back to you on the cost; we're not going to change anything. For the sake of my sanity, I think I did. In the future, they plan to further expand the motion system to include sway (side to side sway) and surge (front to back sway).
