Creative Assembly job ad, teasing the "Alien: Isolation" team's next sci-fi FPS.

Developer Creative Assembly has teased the next project from a member of the "Alien: Isolation" team. The image is clearly marked "not representative of gameplay" and contains several elements reminiscent of job ads and Sega.

However, the gun clearly shows elements of the game, as it shares some features with the background picture of this weapon in the blog post that first announced the game. Other notable features include custom elements on the gun, decals and key chains, a chunky tape deck that suggests a retro-futurist aesthetic, and.... I have no idea what an inflatable unicorn is.

This is the first we've heard of the game since Neill Blomkamp, director of "District 9," visited the studio about two years ago for a "behind-the-scenes look." All of the job ads begin with the following canned statement: "The award-winning team at Creative Assembly for Alien: Isolation is breaking new ground with an all-new and exciting first-person shooter IP."

Looking through the ad, we find a few more little nuggets. One is the description "tactical shooter," and the other reveals what we already knew: that this IP is unique to Creative Assembly. Yes, it is not "Alien: Isolation 2".

Perhaps most importantly, there will be a Live Product Director role: "The Live Product Director will be responsible for post-launch product management of the game, including product roadmap, retention & engagement strategy, and game analytics, a key point of contact for understanding and expressing player emotions and behaviors.

That probably means a service game, and one of the few details we know for sure is that the game "is a novel take on the FPS genre (and) an ambitious multiplayer title that allows players to embrace a variety of creative play styles"

This means that the game will be a "new and innovative take on the FPS genre.

Of course, these hints could be in vain. But Creative Assembly's success has made it the largest developer in the UK, so a project of that scale is certainly not impossible. But we will have to wait and see if this is strong enough to stand up to the giants of the genre.
