Old School Runescape Finally Adds In-Game Clan Today

You would think that any MMO would have guilds, let alone one with a long history like Old School Runescape. But after years of the community meeting in informal groups, today the throwback MMO finally has a proper clan system in place.

Announced for 2019, the Clan Update is coming today along with a new Clan Hub in the game's Grand Exchange. From here, users can browse existing clans or create their own. Clans will also be able to spend time in "halls," which are instantiated rooms open to selected guests.

Of course, the Runescape community has been getting together for clans on forums and Discord servers for years, and it is just wild that it has taken this long for the game to finally implement what seems to be a fairly standard feature for MMOs! It's just not right. Nevertheless, the lack of an official clan does not change the fact that Nostalgia Trip is still very popular in 2007. Just last year, the game set an all-time record with 157,445 concurrent players, and that was before the game made its long-overdue transition to Steam.

"Playing Old School RuneScape is like restoring an old car. 'It's not always fun, and it's often hard work. But it's very satisfying to step back and see your hard work pay off."[7
