This appears to be the sexy new look of the Steam download page.

Looks like Steam's UI is getting a facelift, and Pavel Djundik, creator of SteamDB and general data sniffer, managed to get access to the new-look download page. This is seriously big news, especially for people like me who have stupidly spent my life being strangely hypnotized by little lines dancing up and down and game magic coming through my pipes.

The new look is visually consistent with other recently overhauled elements of Steam, such as the game library. The information displayed is more or less the same as before, just presented in a more eye-catching way. It is worth adding the caveat that this appearance may change when the official release is made, but this style is consistent with what Valve has generally done.

Djundik added, "They are also working on a new settings page, but it won't open so easily; Valve seems to be slowly but surely moving toward removing VGUI." VGUI is the Valve Graphical User Interface, the software that has underpinned how everything looks in Steam and Source games for the life of the product.

The biggest recent leaks have been about the possibility of a handheld console, which seems to be an interesting time for Valve. Also, Steam's UI improvements may wake up the competition and one day an Epic Games Store with a decent front end may be on the horizon.
