Warzone Nerfs Cargo Truck Meta

Warzone Nerfs Cargo Truck Meta

The latest patch for Call of Duty Warzone takes aim at the cargo truck meta that has dominated solo mode for months. Basically, cargo trucks are... Well, trucks. Capable of absorbing tons of flame, they are so numerous that naturally players would rather try to run over their opponents than fight them.

According to the patch notes, the spawn rate of cargo trucks in Verdansk in solo BR mode has been reduced from a range of 16-20 per match to a uniform 5 per match." Developer Raven Software writes, "In solo, players are reluctant to spend a significant amount of resources on removing cargo trucks, which tends to result in a significant number of cargo trucks in the final circle.

"As a result, gameplay creates a crutch that forces players to avoid traditional engagements and places less emphasis on end-game positioning and firefights. Reducing the number of solo cargo trucks throughout the game would be a feasible and attractive option, as the number of solo cargo trucks would be significantly reduced, making them much less present on the map.

Raven had previously announced this change.

Warzone's audience, known for its calm and measured approach to gaming issues, has been calling cargo tracks an issue for months now. In addition to its impact on solo games, there were various bugs that caused stationary vehicles to shoot down or kill players. This has also been addressed: "The bug where vehicles would knock down or kill squad mates has been fixed.

Dr. Disrespect, Warzone's most famous player, has been complaining about this bug for a long time, so at least he will be happy.

Other elements of the patch include a small nerf to the CR-56 AMAX, one of the assault rifles that tends to dominate. What is interesting about this patch is Raven's ambition to slightly lower the kill power of guns in general." In their continuing efforts to gradually increase Time to Kill, they believe that their best bet is to lower the power of guns that are out of line rather than increase the power of other guns.

Interestingly, it was only a few weeks ago that AMAX was nerfed by a whole damage point. I guess it wasn't enough!

Interesting times for Warzone, not least because Activision is getting serious about swinging the bang-bang hammer against the vicious elements of its huge audience. Read the full patch notes here.
