Marvel Cinematic Universe? Nope. Hip-hop icons? Piss off. A series of fantasy books that used to be sold at Barnes & Noble? Burn your bingo cards! The latest Fortnite crossover is based on Brandon Sanderson's novel Mistborn.

Fortnite made the official announcement early Friday morning. The new skin is based on Kelsier, a central character in the series.

Epic had previously teased the Mistborn crossover by tweeting a quote from the book.

The quote referred to Kelsian: "You are a man called Survivor, and the scars on your arms speak volumes about you. You're a troublemaker."

Despite being a reasonable reader of fantasy and science fiction (I love a good Drizzt novel or John Scalzi), I admit that I always see it on shelves in bookstores and know nothing of Mistborn other than that. Mistborn is the story of a young bandit named Vin in a dark world ruled by powerful magic. She discovers that she is one of the Mistborn, a being who can use metallic particles to dramatically increase her abilities. Her mentor, Kelsia, is the leader of a religion known as the Church of the Survivors, and their gang works to overthrow the empire.

It seems to be a fairly straightforward fantasy, but it wouldn't be as big as "Mistborn" without fun characters and drama.

Brandon Sanderson is also known for finishing writing The Wheel of Time, which he took over after Robert Jordan's untimely death. Kelsier's bundle comes with back bling "Hemalurgic Spikes", pickaxes "Volcanic Glass Daggers" and a new loading screen.
