Cyberpunk 2077 Will Be "Exactly What It Promised," CD Projekt Boss Says

Adam Kiciński, president and co-CEO of CD Projekt, reiterated his recent recommitment to Cyberpunk 2077 in the company's Q1 results released today, saying that while the studio itself is preparing to move to a parallel development system in 2022 But he stated that the majority of the development team continues to work on Cyberpunk 2077.

"We intend to fulfill the promises we made to gamers in January," Kicinski said. While we've already seen significant improvements, the bulk of the team continues to work to ensure that Cyberpunk provides even better entertainment for gamers."

This statement echoes Kicinski's comments in April, when he said that the studio has no plans to wash its hands of Cyberpunk 2077. He said at the time, "We are confident we can take this game to a state we can be proud of and thus market it successfully for years to come."

During a Q&A session with investors, Kicinski said that "nearly half" of the Cyberpunk development team is working on either the currently released version or the upcoming next-generation console version, with a smaller team moving into pre-production on an unannounced project. Perhaps this reflects the promise made a few months ago, when Cyberpunk 2077 was announced, that the game would not be released to the public until closer to launch. But make no mistake," he said, "we do have a team gearing up for future unannounced projects.

Kiciński also reiterated that the conversion to parallel development will not take place until at least 2022.

"There is a small team undergoing transformation that is preparing to work on such content," he said.

"Of course, it depends on the different phases regarding the project and future Triple-A content.
