In May, Electronic Arts announced (casually) that the official announcement of "Battlefield 6" (or whatever its final name will be) would take place sometime in June. Today, that date has been set for June 9.

At this point, there's nothing more to see, except that the reveal will start uncomfortably early at 7 am PT/10 am ET/4 pm CEST, and that it still technically falls within the spring boundaries that EA promised in February (summer begins June 21). (Summer begins on June 21.)

Still, we have a reasonable (if very rough) idea of what will appear: two images leaked in early May suggest that the game will be set in the present day or the near future, a claim made by leaker Tom Henderson in March This is consistent with the According to Henderson, the battle royale mode will be similar to that of Firestorm.

June 9, which is one day before Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest begins and three days before E3, which includes the return of the PC Gaming Show. It is also 43 days before EA Play, an online event on July 22; see the full E3 schedule.
