Intel is considering frame rate enhancement technology for Intel Xe-HPG gaming GPUs.

Intel's Raja Koduri said the company is interested in frame rate enhancement technologies like AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution to improve the frame rate of upcoming Intel Xe-HPG gaming graphics cards.

In response to former HardOCP Kyle Bennett, Koduri said that Intel is "definitely looking at it [AMD FSR]" and that Intel will explore open approaches to improve quality and performance with similar technologies.

FidelityFX Super Resolution is AMD's answer to Nvidia DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling). At its core is an upscaling technology, but AMD has been tight-lipped about official details, so our current understanding comes primarily from patents.

What we do know is that AMD will provide FSR as open source and cross-vendor. This means that it will work with both AMD cards and Nvidia cards. This means that not only would Intel be willing to consider this solution, but Xe GPUs would be supported regardless. [Technicalities aside, AMD plans to release FidelityFX Super Resolution later this month, on June 22, and is asking for suggestions on which games to run it on.

As for Intel Xe-HPG graphics cards, they are reportedly on track to arrive later this year; further tweets from Koduri suggest that they are well on their way to final production, and the latest images show Intel's DG2 in 512EU configuration GPU, and Koduri suggests that this GPU has gone from "jittery travel to buttery smooth."
