Dark Horse wants to bring comic icons into the game

Dark Horse Comics, publisher of "Hellboy," "300," and "Umbrella Academy," is hoping to create a new division of Dark Horse Games to adapt its series into games.

As detailed on DH Games' new site, the comics owner hopes to expand its library of "over 425 story-driven, diverse and unique worlds and characters."

This could create space for the first "Hellboy" game since 2008. While that may be the case, Dark Horse wants to kick things off by reimagining "older, less established" properties as "game-first" franchises.

Perhaps it's for the best. Hellboy's most infamous video game appearance was generously described by Richard Cobbett as "people really flapped their wings hard while displaying the misplaced confidence of a man jumping off a Niagara Falls." The big red man will also appear in "Injustice 2," and we can't wait to see who Dark Horse will pull out of obscurity.

The publisher has yet to make a formal announcement as to which series it will revive and, more importantly, who will develop these games; DHG's website states that "in the coming years, we will be releasing games on all platforms (mobile, PC, console, cloud) that It only states that they are "actively in discussions with the world's top gaming companies to develop games using our IP that will be released on all platforms (mobile, PC, console, and cloud) in the next few years.

Cheers, Eurogamer
