Ultra-light model "Glorious Model D" goes wireless; battery life is 71 hours.

Due to popular demand, Glorious has confirmed that it will be making a wireless version of its Model D gaming mouse, which is lightweight and ergonomically shaped. The release date is still a mystery, but Glious says that the product will be "fully stocked" at launch and will not accept pre-orders or ship in bulk.

This is good news, given this year's frustrating procurement of PC hardware. For the most part, peripherals have been plentiful (with the exception of flight sticks following the launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator), but the relief that Model D Wireless will not be in short supply is still welcome.

The Model D is similar to the fleet-footed Model O, but has been modified from its ambidextrous form to a slightly curved shape more suited to right-handed gamers. And just as the Model O went wireless a few months ago, the Model D will probably soon follow suit.

Glorious says it has partnered with Pixart to design a sensor that won't drain the battery too quickly.

"The Model D Wireless boasts our proprietary lag-free BAMF wireless mouse sensor, developed in conjunction with Pixart. With this innovative low-power sensor, the MDW offers an excellent battery life of 71 hours, ideal for long productivity and gaming sessions," Glorious said.

The company did not elaborate on the sensor, but it appears to be the same one used in the Model O Wireless. If so, it would have 19,000 DPI (default 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 DPI settings can be remapped in software), 50G acceleration, and a tracking speed of 400 inches per second.

The Model D Wireless will also have six buttons, but under the hood is slightly different from the non-wireless model. According to Glorious, the tail-less model will have "new and improved proprietary switches" developed with Kailh.

"Our team carefully designed these innovative switches to provide a satisfying, crisp clicking feel," Glorius says.

The Model D Wireless will sell for $80 when it is introduced. As for its timing, Glorious says it will announce a release date and time once it confirms that stock orders have arrived at its warehouse.
