Apex Legend's DDoS problem is being fixed "as we speak."

Respawn has taken a "big step" toward resolving the DDoS issues that have been ongoing for the past few months at Apex Legends, and is "frustrated" by the situation, as are the players.

On Reddit and Twitter, many players have reported that while DDoS attacks have been used to gain an unfair advantage and move up the leaderboards in the rankings, victims of the attacks are often banned from the game and lose RP as a result.

Communications Director Ryan Rigney said at a Reddit AMA last month that the studio is exploring several avenues to address the concerns, including closing loopholes that allow attacks and improving tools to identify players who initiate attacks Rigney also said Respawn is "investigating serious consequences beyond the ban," and is considering legal action in certain cases, he continued. [Respawn security analyst Conor Ford tweeted that the "DDoS situation is being addressed as we speak by lead software engineer Samy Duc." While not the easiest fix in the world, great steps are being made to address this problem. Today, 31 abusers were shadow banned. We are as frustrated as the players."

Apex has dealt with its fair share of abusive players; at the end of 2020, 419 top rankers who abused glitches that allowed them to hit bronze players for easy RP were hit with BANs. To add insult to injury, other Respawn games have also been hit with DDoS attacks; both Titanfall games were hit with them a few weeks ago and had already dealt with the attacks in the past.
