Dicey Dungeons Developer Electrocutes Strangers in Roblox

Terry Cavanagh, creator of Dicey Dungeons and VVVVVV, has been on a Roblox kick lately. After letting players climb an unrealistic big guy, the Irish developer is now trying to strike lightning on random players.

Earlier this week, Cavanagh posted a brief overview of a very silly multiplayer experiment using Roblox's editing tools. In short, it's the best game proposal I've read in years.

And now Cavanagh's latest, "Obby" (don't call it a game), delivers exactly what it promises: every 30 seconds, a random player on the server gets struck by lightning. There is no stopping it. You can't avoid it. You will be struck by lightning. But if you hit someone else, you get a little bigger.

At best, you can only hope that the servers are full enough that the weight of numbers makes it less likely that you will be burned. Sadly, lightning never seems to drive you off the server entirely.

Cavanagh confesses that Climb The Giant Man took him about three months to master Roblox's tools. ACBSBLAAT, on the other hand, was apparently completed in just a few days, illustrating how easily developers can put their ideas together with the platform's tools.
