Sorry, but "Dead Island 2" (and "Saints Row" and "Time Splitters") will not be announced at E3.

When Koch Media announced that it would be hosting a Summer Game Fest live stream next week, many possibilities were presented. Perhaps there will be an announcement about "Dead Island 2," for which we have been waiting for years. Or the next installment of "Saints Row"? Time Splitters" is certainly a longshot, but given the very recent timing of the announcement, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

But unfortunately, none of that is likely to happen. In a tweet posted earlier today, Deep Silver lowered expectations significantly.

"Our parent company @KochMedia_HQ will be making an announcement as part of #SummerGamesFest on June 11. Just a heads up, you won't see Dead Island, Saints Row, Metro, or TimeSplitters there (or at any other E3 2021 event). We will let you know when we can."

(I personally had faint hopes for Metro, and I hope you'll consider me personally disappointed.)

All that remains is "Payday 3," which is being published by Koch, but it may not be too promising just yet. Shadow Warrior 3 and Evil West, two new titles from Koch-owned developer Flying Wild Hog, developer of Deliverance: Deliverance, are also possibilities. Warhorse Studios may also announce something new.

Koch still has plenty of arrows in its quiver. Still, it would be wise to get this out there now: keeping expectations low and springing a few surprises is much better than all the hype and nothing to offer.
