Far Cry 6 introduces a limited third-person perspective to the series.

In Far Cry 6, the camera moves away from the protagonist Dani's head during cutscenes, camping, and some battle scenes, Ubisoft confirmed in an interview with GameSpot this week.

Last week's gameplay reveal trailer showed some of the action from a third-person perspective (especially the use of one of the game's rocket backpacks). However, it appears that the third-person perspective will appear more frequently in Far Cry 6. This is a radical departure from the series' previous insistence on first-person perspectives throughout the years.

"In the cinematics, [the third-person perspective] was something the team tried early on and it felt surprisingly seamless," Ubisoft narrative director Navid Khavari told GameSpot.

"The connection between Dani's journey in the world and this epic story in Yara felt even stronger.

Even in the character customization of "Far Cry 5," there was no opportunity to showcase characters in cutscenes. In "Far Cry 6," however, you can walk around the guerrilla camp from a first- or third-person perspective and even show off your outfit and load-out while talking with fellow revolutionaries.

"The guerrilla camp is also an opportunity for players to see their fully customized characters, from backpacks to outfits.

Sadly, the entire game cannot be played from a third-person perspective; Khavari said that when leaving the camp, the camera returns to Dani's skull, only popping out when the game's "supremo" backpack is used.

Far Cry 6 may add a third-person perspective, but unfortunately it will also lose the series' staple map editor; contrary to Khavari's earlier statements, the game will also have a large political component, but it is unclear what that political component is or what the game will say about the political elements.
