Prince of Persia: Sands of Time will not be released this year and will not be shown at E3 2021.

Ubisoft's "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" remake was supposed to be released six months ago, but after several delays, it will now be delayed until 2022. Not only that, but the game will not be seen at the Ubisoft Forward E3 2021 showcase next week.

The official Prince of Persia Twitter account confirmed this today. As you may have already read, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will not be at Ubisoft Forward. We are making great strides toward a release next year, but we are not yet ready to give you any additional information. As soon as we are ready, we will give you an update."

Late last year, Ubisoft pushed back the January release date to March 18. Then in February, the release was given an ambiguous "later date". The first postponement was due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the latter to "allow us to offer a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original."

Whatever the truth, there is no reason to doubt the official announcement, but it is curious that relatively low-profile remakes are postponed so often and for so long. We can expect to hear more about "Rainbow Six: Extraction" and "Far Cry 6" in what is shaping up to be a strong E3 for Ubisoft.
