Fantex Announces 360mm Liquid Cooler for Intel's Alder Lake CPUs

Previously leaked plans questioned whether existing CPU coolers could handle Intel's upcoming Alder Lake processors due to the new LGA 1700 socket, elongated integrated heatspreader (IHS) and interposer design. Be that as it may, Phanteks is not worried, at least when it comes to the Glacier One 360MPH.

The Glacier One 360MPH is a new all-in-one liquid CPU cooler. As the model name suggests, it is a large 360mm radiator with three 120mm fans housed in the company's Halo RGB fan frame.

The product page highlights that it is compatible with all the latest CPU sockets, including Intel LGA 115x, 1200, 1366, 2011, 2011-3, 2066, AMD AM4, sTRX4, and TR4. At some point, Phanteks plans to add LGA 1700 as well.

"The Glacier One 360MPH will also support future LGA 1700 sockets through Phanteks' customer support for users who have purchased the Glacier One 360MPH," Phanteks states.

In other words, they will offer some sort of bracket kit when Alder Lake comes out; Phanteks does not say whether it will be a free upgrade (we hope so), only that customers will have to request it through their support channels. This suggests that other existing coolers may receive the same treatment, but we know of no overt announcement outside of this. Alder Lake is rumored to be coming out at the end of the year, possibly in November.

Socket support aside, this appears to be a strong cooling solution. It features a pump designed by Asetek (as many AIO coolers do), with a high-flow impeller and a pure copper cold plate with machined fins. The pump housing looks quite slick, with a tempered glass "Infinity Mirror" creating a 3D RGB effect.

Phanteks claims that this cooler can dramatically lower temperatures. In our own testing, we switched an Intel Core i7 10700K processor from the stock Intel air cooler to the Glacier One 360MPH, and it dropped from 68.2°C to 24.7°C. However, we have not tested this cooler ourselves, so for the time being we can only take the company's figures on faith.

There is also a smaller 240MPH with a 240mm radiator, which Phanteks says can cool the same chip to 25.9°C, suggesting that it is roughly equivalent to the 360mm model.

Interestingly, Phanteks mentions 360MPH only with respect to future Alder Lake support. In any case, the 360MPH will be available in June for $200; there is no mention of a price for the 240MPH.
