General
The key switches on EVGA's Z15 RGB keyboard can be replaced.

Usually, when you buy a mechanical gaming keyboard, you are bound by what kind of keyswitch you choose: loud and clicky or smooth and quiet (or somewhere in between) EVGA's Z15 RGB gaming keyboard stands out from the crowd It has It features hot-swappable keyswitches, allowing you to replace keyswitches without having to buy a new deck. Also, it is now available at a significant discount.

Newegg has the Z15 RGB for $59.99 when you apply coupon code 6ACSFLS75 at checkout. The list price is $129.99, so that's a savings of $70 off the keyboard's regular price; according to CamelCamelCamel's tracking data, Amazon has lowered the price to $64.99 several times in the past, but the average selling price is over $100. Currently, it sells for $93.95 on Amazon.

You can choose between Kailh Speed Bronze or Kailh Speed Silver. The Bronze switches are tactile and clicky, allowing for louder typing (which is right up my alley). Silver switches, on the other hand, are linear and smooth, allowing for quiet typing without any tactile sensation.

In addition to the choice of switches, EVGA also touts a 4,000 Hz report rate (the 1,000 Hz report rate found on most gaming/performance keyboards). This translates to a response time reduction from 1 ms to 0.25 ms. We have not tested this keyboard, so we do not know if the ultra-fast re port rate actually makes a meaningful difference, but theoretically, it allows for faster input.

This keyboard also offers a set of dedicated media keys, including a volume scroll wheel, and customizable RGB lighting for each key.
