Battlefield 2042" does not include Battle Royale, but does have two mystery modes

"Battlefield 2042" gave us a lot to talk about: the number of players is double the usual number (64 players per match x 2 teams for a total of 128) and the typical Battlefield class system has been completely changed. The near-future setting is of little importance. This is the exact opposite of the Battlefield 5 announcement, which focused on minor details like the World War II setting and character animations, while at E3 it was announced that a battle royale mode was in development. Here's an example: there will definitely be no battle royale mode this time around.

In a presentation last week, DICE stated both that no battle royale mode is in development for Battlefield 2042 and that no battle royale mode is planned. And they want everyone to know that one of the two unannounced modes, Hazard Zone, is not a battle royale mode, even though its name might make it sound like one.

What DICE is trying to say is that Hazard Zone is squad-based and high stakes. To me, it reminds me of Escape from Tarkov, Hunt: Showdown, and The Dark Zone in The Division. It could be a mode where you enter a huge map with your squad, complete your objectives, and escape safely. Battlefield might be better suited for such a style of FPS than Battle Royale.

Another unannounced mode has yet to be named; all DICE will say is that it is being made by DICE LA and that it is a "love letter to Battlefield fans."

DICE LA is headed by Vince Zampella, the head of Respawn, and we knew they were developing something related to Battlefield, but we didn't know exactly what. We were made aware when Senior Design Director Justin Wiebe tweeted: "It's strange to be working on a game I fell in love with almost 20 years ago! 1942 sandbox play was amazing for its time. I look forward to hearing from you all what you love and want in future BF games"

.

The reference to "Battlefield 1942" is consistent with DICE's statement that the mode is some sort of fan service. Also, since there is no single-player mode this time around, it may be quite large to make up for it.

The main mode of Battlefield 2042 is called All-Out Warfare, a category that includes typical Battlefield game types such as Conquest. For more information on the major changes to the core Battlefield experience, please see.

Battlefield 2042 will be released on October 22. Before that, there will be a beta that includes hazard zones, so we'll get a preview of that eventually; we'll find out what that is soon, as EA says that a mysterious DICE LA mode will be revealed at EA Play on July 22.
