Get a 27" 1080p G-Sync capable monitor with a fast 280Hz refresh rate for $300 today!

Asus won the 280Hz competition in the display arena last year with the release of the TUF Gaming VG279QM. If you need or crave such speed in your gaming monitor, there is good news.

The list price for the VG279QM is $399.99, but Newegg has it for $369.99. In addition, if you add promo code 93XRE57 at checkout, you get an additional $70 off the price, bringing the pre-tax price to $299.99. This is the lowest price since the launch.

280 Hz is an overclocked refresh rate. The monitor's native refresh rate is 240 Hz, which combined with the 1 ms response time will allow for fast and smooth gaming at high frame rates if the GPU can keep up.

Of course, even if you own the best graphics card money can buy, you can't push 280 frames per second on every game. Counter Strike: Global Offensive and other competitive shooters benefit from fast refresh rates.

Nevertheless, this speed is not wasted in other games. Headroom in graphics-intensive titles is well in excess of 60 fps. And since this is a G-Sync-enabled display, the refresh rate can be synchronized to the GeForce GPU to eliminate screen tearing.

The 27" display is constructed with an IPS panel, has a viewing angle of 178 degrees, 100% coverage of the sRGB color space, a resolution of 1920x1080, and a brightness of 400 nits, which is well into DisplayHDR 400 certified territory.

While we have not reviewed this monitor, the folks at Rtings (a site I frequent for TV reviews) gave it high marks almost across the board, concluding that it is an "outstanding gaming monitor" and "one of the best we've ever tested" for gaming This is high praise. This is high praise.
