Sable has been on our radar for quite some time, and now we finally have a release date: September 23. The release date was announced at Summer Game Fest with a beautiful and haunting performance by the wonderful Japanese Breakfast.

Sable is a stylish open-world exploration game inspired by the films of Studio Ghibli and the art of Jean Mobius Giraud. Travel through the vast desert to find monuments, monoliths, and other characters, each telling its own unique story.

The story is interestingly structured, piecing together a larger narrative from small chunks of hidden plot points. You will ride hoverbikes around sand dunes, explore abandoned spaceships, and listen to rumors whispered by merchants.

Sable's release has been delayed several times. Originally scheduled for a 2019 release, that turned into 2020, but it will definitely be released this September. Either way, we hope so; Sable will also be playable on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

The game will feature hand-crafted environments, hoverbike upgrades and clothes changes, and more emphasis on puzzles than combat.
