The Game Awards will be held in front of a live audience this year

The Game Awards, which will be held again this December, will return to a live studio broadcast, Geoff Keighley confirmed at the end of today's Summer Game Fest stream.

Last year's Game Awards, like many events, was forced to do all of its new game trailers, awards introductions, and (occasional) Josef Fares rants online. However, with signs that Covid-19's restrictions on rallies are being lifted, many events are beginning to take tentative steps toward a return to live shows.

Blizzard has taken the lead on this, with both the Overwatch League and Call of Duty League returning to live events this summer; the Overwatch one is limited to a few teams in China, but Overwatch esports matches The crowds and cosplayers at the event are already a wild sight.

More details on The Game Awards' return to the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles will be announced later this summer.
