Take a Journey Through Graphics Card History at Colorful's New GPU Museum

If you ever wanted to go back to the early days of graphics cards, when chips were plentiful and boxes were plastered with half-baked 3D models, now you can. Graphics card maker Colorful has opened its own graphics card museum.

Graphics cards made their mark in the 80s, but only really took off in the 90s, and Colorful's new Graphics Card Museum will showcase the ancestors of the modern GPU, the IBM graphics It covers many things from adapters to the first in the long line of Nvidia GeForce 256s that lead to today's monster cards.

The museum also covers Colorful's entry into the GPU market with the Voodoo 2 in 1999, with relics like ATI's Rage Fury MAXX on display. One can also find a few modern rarities, like the Radeon VII, which now has a second life as a powerful mining machine.

Since the museum is open in partnership with Nvidia, there are many early cards from the chipset maker lying around.

Most of the list of the most important graphics cards in history can be found in these hallowed halls.

The museum will soon be open to the public, but you will have to travel to Shenzhen, China to visit.
