GPU shortage means MSI to resell GeForce GT 730

The graphics card market is in very poor shape right now, and MSI has released a new graphics card using a GPU that saw the light of day in 2014 (via Tom's Hardware). The MSI GeForce GT 730 features a boost clock of 902MHz on a Kepler GPU, 384 Cuda cores, and 2GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM.

While this is not a graphics card for gaming, it may be the only option if your current GPU fails and you need to run your machine for work or minesweeper. Especially if you have no integrated graphics to rely on, as is the case with Intel F-series CPUs or AMD Ryzen CPUs.

The GeForce GT 730 is not a powerful GPU, but it is also not very demanding on the system, consuming only 23W of power from its PCIe slot.

This is a half-height card, but MSI has added a VGA output to the bracket to make it a full-height card. More modern screens also have HDMI 1.4a ports and DVI connectors.

It also supports MSI's Afterburner overclocking utility, which is pretty wild considering the passive cooling.

The card is currently only available in Japan at a list price of 4,565 yen, or roughly $42, but cards like this may appear in other regions.

Some manufacturers have stated that the graphics card shortage is unlikely to be resolved anytime soon and will not return to normal until 2023 at the earliest. And even then, it will take time for the market to normalize pricing, as the used market remains high as it tries to recoup its costs.
