"Castlevania" on Netflix was bloody good, wasn't it?" But while the current run may have just ended, the series' creators confirmed today that the story will continue in a new spin-off series.

During a Netflix Geeked Week stream this afternoon, directors Sam Dietz, Adam Dietz, and executive producer Kevin Kolde confirmed that "this worldview is near its end."

The new series will be a loose adaptation of 1993's Castlevania II: Rondo in Blood and will feature new protagonists Richter Belmont (son of series stars Trevor and Cypher) and Maria Renard. The setting also sharply pursues the French Revolution. Massive uprisings, rivers of blood, lots of pretty heads being chopped off" All of it sounds perfectly Castlevania to me.

It is also worth noting that this Castlevania spinoff will be under the direction of new showrunner Clive Bradley. His predecessor, Warren Ellis, left the show after more than 60 women accused the showrunner of sexual misconduct, but not before finishing work on season four.

"I'm told he has no further involvement with 'Castlevania' and has not been part of conversations about a possible new show that would likely not include him as a creative stand-in," Deadline's Nelly Andreeva claimed at the time.
