Netflix Casts Lance Reddick as Wesker in Live-Action "Resident Evil" Series

Lance Reddick plays longtime villain Albert Wesker in Netflix's live-action "Resident Evil" series.

Reddick's film and television credits include the "John Wick" series and HBO's "The Wire," but he has also done a lot of work in video games, playing Commander Zavala in "Destiny 2" and as Sirens in "Horizon: Zero Dawn.

More actors were also announced, although specific roles were not revealed; Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nunez are also involved in the project. Here is a group of all of them.

The series will follow the Wesker children in two timelines, one before the zombie apocalypse and the other much later. In the first timeline, the Wesker sisters, 14-year-old Jade and Billy, are relocated to New Raccoon City. It is a manufactured, corporate city, forced upon the two in the throes of adolescence. But as they spend time there, the two come to realize that the town is more than it seems and that their father may be hiding a dark secret. A secret that could destroy the world.

We switch to the second timeline, more than a decade into the future. And there are over six billion monsters - humans and animals infected with the T-virus - and while Jade, now 30, struggles to survive in this new world, secrets from her past about her sister, her father, and herself continue to haunt her.
