Microsoft has yet to reveal the exact release date for "Halo Infinite".

Microsoft didn't spend too much time on "Halo" at this year's E3 conference, but they did show off the multiplayer for the first time, which got me very excited. It looks like classic Halo, but there are a lot of fun new features, including grappling hooks and new vehicles. Microsoft's Joseph Staten, a longtime Bungie developer, joined 343 Industries late last year to work on Halo Infinite.

"Halo Infinite" is only a few months away, but it is not yet known when exactly it will be released, and Staten said only that single player and multiplayer will be released together "this holiday."

Microsoft rolled back a short clip of the new Halo ring, showing off bits and pieces of the environment. It's a new AI that looks and sounds a lot like Cortana, who went on a rampage in the last game (i.e., now a bad guy).

"This scene in Halo Infinite implies that Cortana is dead, but it sounds like there's more going on than that.

"The rogue AI known as Cortana is gone. She has been removed," says the new AI. When the chief asks why, he and the new AI realize that something fishy is going on. The mission has changed. It always does," says the chief. This "new Cortana" seems to be a companion to the voice in our heads throughout "Infinite."
