General
Naraka Bladepoint combines sword-wielding combat with a wild traversal system.

No matter what kind of gamer you are, you always dream of overcoming walls, clashing swords, and becoming a fighter like a champion. So Naraka: Bladepoint looks to be the battle royale game that will ultimately turn things around, mixing the best of close and long range combat, large characters inspired by Eastern culture, and a world full of ways to beat your opponents.

If you like the battle royale inspired by fighting games and martial arts movies, try it out for yourself during the beta, which runs from June 16 to June 22 (PDT). You can sign up for the beta at Naraka: Bladepoint page on Steam. [24 Entertainment and published by NetEase Montreal, Naraka: Bladepoint will drive players into battle with "Unchained Multiplayer Combat." In addition to being able to fight with four different melee weapons, including a large sword, longsword, katana, and spear, players can also use a grappling hook to climb to the top of towers or hook onto opponents to get close to their faces. They can also use the grappling hook to climb to the top of the tower or jump on the face of an enemy.

The freedom of movement system makes Naraka's battlefield a surprisingly vertical and diverse playground for stealth, sneak attacks, and the kind of martial arts swordplay seen in Jet Li's Heroes and Thunderbolt Fantasy. Wall-running across a ruined pirate ship and scrambling up the sides like Link in Breath of the Wild. Finally, use a spare grappling hookshot to scramble up an ancient temple, watch for some enemies, and cling to them for a devastating blow.

And while "Naraka: Bladepoint" offers dueling with unique heroes, players can develop their own fighting style using collectibles called "Souljade" found throughout the map. The character creation engine allows players to create wildly unique warriors that blend different styles, physiques, and outfits. In addition to new creations, some players have recreated characters from different franchises, such as Sponge Bob's "handsome Squidward," Jedi Master Yoda, and DC hero Starfire. Whether it's a crimson-skinned demon with a flashy undercut or a green-skinned ogre warrior, there seems to be something for everyone. You can check out Naraka's Twitter page for daily updates and fan art.

But it's not just skin deep. Naraka: Bladepoint's talent system allows players to personalize their fighting style and change the effects of their skills during a match. In a match, a player can combine normal attacks with counters, use four different melee weapons, each with its own unique combo, and even use powerful ultimate moves, such as the ability to transform into a multi-armed giant god. Thus, the fight depends more on individual style and skill than on luck. When the enemy begins to flail, a careful mix of counter attacks and concentrated attacks can quickly turn the enemy on its back and deliver the killing blow. If they are not yet ready to fight, they can use the grappling hook to retreat to safety. This is because you can run back to the respawn point in a ghost state, put on some basic gear, and return to continue the fight.

Players who pre-order Nalaka will also get Bladepoint: players who pre-order "Bladepoint" will get bonus goodies.
