The "Back 4 Blood" DLC will be accessible to everyone in the party as long as one player owns it.

Back 4 Blood is a Left 4 Dead-style cooperative zombie shooter that is currently in development at Turtle Rock Studios, although the title may not suggest it. Over the weekend, Turtle Rock revealed how the game's PvP mode works: players, who are survivors, are split into one team and try to hold out against a zombie (called "Ridden" in the game for some reason) controlled by the other team.

What this article failed to mention, however, is how to ensure that the player base is not split between those who have purchased the post-launch content and those who have not. The answer is quite simple: in a simple update, Turtle Rock explained that as long as the leader of a PvE party owns a paid content drop that includes maps, modes, and campaign content, everyone else in the party can play it too.

On the PvP side, all players have access to the same cards at the start of a match, so there is no imbalance. Furthermore, all PvP-related content can be acquired through gameplay, so no additional purchases are necessary.

"Players who do not purchase content drops will be able to earn new playable characters and rides in PvP for free through progression," said Turtle Rock.

"Additionally, all PvP players will have access to the same cards at the start of each match, regardless of whether or not they have purchased content drops.

For now, Turtle Rock is "completely focused" on the completion and release of Back 4 Blood, so it will be a while before we hear more about post-launch plans. However, the studio said it wants to clarify this point now so that followers can "feel good" about the game.

The "Back 4 Blood" shooter looks good, but the bigger question is whether it can replicate Valve's magic; Nat recently stated that there is something flat and indefinable about it compared to the games it hopes to emulate, and that "Valve's sensibility is what made the first two Without the charm that Valve brought to the first two games, Back 4 Blood would not be Left 4 Dead 3. [Back 4 Blood will be released on October 12.
