General
Our top VR headset, Oculus Quest 2, reduced to $250.

For most people, especially those who have never owned VR hardware before, the best VR headset is the Oculus Quest 2. This is one of the less expensive headsets, with features and specs that are above its price class; you can get the 64GB model for $249.99 at Target.

This is a $50 price cut from the regular $299.99 retail price. Since the VR headset is already relatively affordable, price reductions are few and far between. Simply add the item to your cart and you will see the discount.

There are a few caveats. The biggest is the need to link Quest 2 to your Facebook account. This is a big trade-off for the relatively attractive price, and in-game advertising that Facebook has begun experimenting with using data taken from users' Facebook profiles.

Another caveat is that this is the 64GB model, not the larger 256GB version that sells for $399.99. There is no way to upgrade the storage on these headsets (no microSD card slot, etc.), so when the allotted storage fills up, you will have to delete content to make room for new games and apps.

However, even the 64GB model can pack quite a bit of content; there are many games that are less than 2GB in capacity, such as In Death (1.1GB): Unchained (1.1GB) and Beat Saber (455MB). Many games consume a lot of space: "Unchained" (1.1GB) and "Beat Saber" (455MB).

Otherwise, the specifications are the same. Quest 2 boasts a resolution of 3664x1920 (1832x1920 per eyeball), a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz (according to the latest update), and a viewing angle of 100 degrees. It is also a wireless, all-in-one headset with all necessary hardware built in (driven primarily by a Snapdragon XR2 chip). No base station is needed.

It is also more than a standalone headset: you can connect Quest 2 to your PC and play SteamVR and Rift games like Half Life: Alyx. This can be done using an Oculus Link cable or, with the latest update, wirelessly using Air Link; at $249.99, it's not that cheap.
