Developer Finally Admits Outriders Are Harsh

Developer People Can Fly has announced that the next patch for Outriders, currently in testing and scheduled to launch next week, will bring major changes to the game's loot system and legendary drops. Since launch, players have been complaining about how these endgame weapons and items are distributed and the various "gates" in place to obtain certain types as well as drop rates.

Well, People Can Fly is doing something about it. Sooner or later. Legendary drop rates will increase by 100% across the board, and the previous "level brackets" will be removed. In other words, items will now drop no matter what level of enemy you kill (though basic scaling will still apply).

In addition, an anti-duplicate system will be introduced (multiple drops of the same legendary was a common complaint), and duplicate items will be re-rolled only once. This system does not guarantee that every drop will be unique. Rather, it is designed to provide a second roll to avoid duplicates."

.

There have also been changes to what bosses drop, and the luck system in general has been improved so that "players will no longer be stuck in a very long drought with no Legendary items dropping at the end of the game."

Finally, Outriders recently distributed "appreciation packs" to players, but the distribution went a little awry." We are sorry that so many of you received weapons that you had already previously obtained. This was not our intention. The developer has readjusted the package and will re-grant it to players who have requested it since its release. These glitches are at least relatively minor, unlike the horrible bug that started wiping out players' entire inventories in April.

There are many other bug fixes and minor gameplay tweaks in the full text of the notes, but the biggest change here is definitely the change to Legendary. Whether this will help keep Outriders interesting in the long run, however, remains to be seen.
