Two New Ghosts in Fasmophobia, Plus Dirty Water Returns

Phasmophobia, the co-op ghost hunting/found footage horror/cheesy documentary simulator, received a major new content update today. Released last year, the early access version of the game was a huge hit, consistently making Steam's top sellers list, and seeing its Twitch audience grow significantly over the course of several months.

The new update added a map, a narrow, closetless Willow Street House, and two new ghosts. Huntu is a grumpy ghost who does not like players to talk to him, and he may be hunted much earlier in the mission than the other ghosts. The haunts are unpredictable, moving faster in cold rooms and slower in warm rooms, so it is important to keep them turned on to protect your chances of escape. The spawn rate for this new ghost will be tripled until the next update, making it easier to jump in and come back out.

Additionally, the game's dreaded objective, "Dirty Water," is back. This objective is Phasmophobia's in-joke, not because the sinks are difficult to photograph, but because the ghosts seldom do their job and fill the sinks with mud. Dirty Water was removed as a destination in March, but has now been re-added as a Daily Challenge instead of a proper destination.

New additions at Kinetic Games are programmers and artists, each working on the game alongside the original developers. Last year, the sole developer of Phasmophobia said he was reconsidering the Early Access schedule in the face of the game's success.

Rich found that horror games are not scary, but they are unforgettable experiences. He called Phasmophobia "the best ghost game ever."

You can find Phasmophobia on Steam, where you can read the full update notes.
