In the new Sea of Thieves Tall Tales, other players can't mess with you

Rare's Sea of Thieves: As revealed at Rare's "Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life" presentation today, the five new "Pirates of the Caribbean" crossover films included in "Tall Tales" will be set in new locations. Players will visit the "Cursed Sea," filled with pirate ghosts, and the "Sunken Kingdom," a water world filled with Sirens (evil mermaids). This new adventure also introduces a new crustacean enemy called the Ocean Crawler. Unlike skeletons, Ocean Crawlers actually board boats and attack.

Also, unlike the original Tall Tales series, you don't have to worry about other players interrupting your progress; OtherTall Tales takes place on the Sea of Thieves open world map, where you can be attacked and killed by other players while solving puzzles (or by me, as I used to be). When you enter these new locations in A Pirate's Life, they function as separate instances. There will be no griefing from other players, just you, your friends (if you are playing in a group), and your adventures.

This is especially good news for solo players, who can easily fall prey to other crews when trying to clear Tall Tale. In addition, according to Rare, the new "Tall Tales" in A Pirate's Life are designed so that solo players will not have much difficulty completing them. There are checkpoints throughout the story where progress is saved, and the difficulty level varies based on the number of people in the group. In addition, Jack Sparrow, who joins the group in the new adventure, doesn't just ride the boat and perform boozy one-liners (he is voiced by Jared Butler, the actor who played Sparrow in "Kingdom Hearts 3" and other films), he actually lends a hand.

"Not all players play Sea of Thieves with a big crew of other players, so Jack Sparrow's appearance is a great addition," said lead designer Andy Preston. Because not all players play Sea of Thieves with a big crew of other players. But when those players play A Pirate's Life, they put Jack Sparrow in the cannon and run the ship."

One new feature to look forward to is the Dark Tide's Trident, a new weapon that can send magical blasts at enemies. In Sunken Kingdom, holding one's breath will be made easier by plants that produce bubbles that can replenish oxygen underwater.

And players who complete all five Tall Tales will get a new sea shanty to play on their instruments. If you've ever been on Disneyland's "Pirates of the Caribbean," this probably sounds familiar.

Also, when A Pirate's Life arrives on June 22, trident weapons and new enemies will begin appearing throughout the Sea of Thieves map. Sirens and ocean crawlers boarding ships will not only be part of the new adventures, they will be part of the world itself.
