Fans of "Silent Hill" are convinced that a new film will be announced.

In April, a trailer for a game called "Abandoned" by Blue Box Studios was posted on the PlayStation channel. (The studio later tweeted that "the PC community will be pleased," suggesting that the game would be available on PC as well as PS5.) A vague trailer suggests that the game is a first-person shooter set in the eerie countryside. There is a forest, a sign that reads "City of God," and a voiceover ranting about a community led by a "religious fanatic."

The Silent Hill community, desperate as ever to hear about a new installment in the series, was quickly convinced that Abandoned was a revival of Hideo Kojima's cancelled project Silent Hills. This theory has its own subreddit, the "blue box conspiracy". Among their evidence is the fact that Blue Box Studios tweets "Abandoned = (First letter S, Last letter L)" and that the last name of the studio's director, Hasan Kahraman, translates to "hero" in Turkish. This may seem like a stretch, but to be fair, when "Metal Gear Solid 5" was announced, it was announced as a project by "Moby Dick Studios" led by Joakim Moglen, and Joakim is an anagram for Kojima.

Blue Box Studios has since tried to explain that Abandoned is not Silent Hill. It has nothing to do with Konami. Silent Hill is owned by Konami. It has nothing to do with director Hideo Kojima. It was never our intention to make fun of the name Silent Hill. We deeply apologize." Kahraman has already been interviewed by IGN, where he attempted to quash the rumor.

Neither statement did much to blunt the speculation, but it is yet another piece of evidence for fans to cling to. The official Konami Shop merchandise store tweeted, "From the cursed place, new merchandise has come in. #SHLSS," and tweeted an image of a pyramid head and "Coming soon..."

with the words. Today, Konami's Merchandise Store revealed that what it had previously teased was actually a new product from Konami. It's a skateboard featuring the Booby Nurse from Silent Hill 2. The hashtag #SHLSS stands for "Silent Hill Limited Series Skateboard."

As OldGhostBlood wrote on the Blue Box Conspiracy subreddit, "I expect nothing from Konami, but I am still disappointed every time."
