Tetris Effect Connected becomes a free upgrade, enabling cross-play

It required a new purchase or downloading the game via Game Pass and was only available to new users. This summer, "Tetris Effect: Connected" will be available as a free upgrade to all players, regardless of platform. Additionally, the game will be available on Steam in late July.

Tetris Effect: Players can sign up for a closed cross-play beta that runs through July 5 and includes all platforms, including Oculus Rift. Along with crossplay, several new features will be added, including Spectator Mode. This mode is said to be the "No. 1 requested feature from the Tetris Effect community," allowing four to six spectators to join in and watch a match. This is a nice addition, especially since it is still difficult to invite friends over to watch a couch co-op match. Other features include PAL speed, a setting intended to replicate the frame rate and movement of Tetris on the NES, and a slow speed setting. [Tetris Effect: The vibrant competitive Tetris scene has already proven what a great multiplayer game Tetris is, and Switch owners are enjoying their own multiplayer Tetris in "Tetris 99."
