The monitor of your dreams is cheaper on Prime Day than on Black Friday.

General
The monitor of your dreams is cheaper on Prime Day than on Black Friday.

For a while, I've been in monitor heaven with the Samsung CRG9, a monitor that is overkill: too wide, too fast, and usually overpriced. But with today's Prime Day deals, you can scratch that last one off the list. At $899.99 on Amazon, this monitor is the cheapest we've seen so far. This is even cheaper than the retail whirlwind of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

I once installed this monitor for review and tasted the good life while doing so. I could work on two seamlessly connected monitors during the day and switch to one ultrawide (meaning ultra-wide) gaming monitor for #gamernights, and the CRG9 combines the best of both worlds.

Because with this monitor, you can connect two DisplayPort cables from the same PC or from two different devices and use half of the panel for one device and the other half for the other. With a resolution of 5120 x 1440, each half of the monitor is effectively a 1440p monitor in its own right. Isn't that neat?

Flick on the game and this monitor lights up. It's bright, the panel is stunning, and the 120Hz refresh rate keeps everything running smoothly. I was playing a lot of Destiny 2 at the time, and this widescreen is gorgeous, and you'd be surprised at how many games fully support the 32:9 ultrawide aspect ratio. [But there are an amazing number of games that fully support the 32:9 ultrawide aspect ratio. I'm quite tempted by the price, but I'm moving this week and may have one more box to move.

If you're not convinced, there are a couple of notable alternatives to the Samsung CRG9. One is the Samsung Odyssey G9, a newer version of the CRG9 with a 240 Hz refresh rate. However, this monitor is still quite expensive, with the lowest price we could find on Newegg being $1,479.99.
