Update 23/06: The Intel-powered Alienware R12 is sold out, but AMD Ryzen machines are still in stock.

The graphics card on everyone's radar is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. I don't blame them either; the specs on the RTX 3080 are immense for the money. Even Nvidia's RTX 3080 Ti, which I reviewed just a few weeks ago, bit me in the butt on price vs. performance. With ray tracing enabled and happily processing 4K, it's no wonder it's sold out everywhere.

Given that, I wasn't expecting much in the way of RTX 3080 deals in any form this Amazon Prime Day. But I may have been premature. There are a couple of deals touting the RTX 3080 late in the retail festivities: but if you're willing to fork over the cash for a gaming PC, these two Dell gaming rigs offer more than just GPU silicon.

In effect, these two rigs offer a choice of Intel and AMD CPUs. The least expensive R12 costs $2,199 and has an Intel Core i7 11700F CPU. And the more expensive R10 at $2,689 has an AMD Ryzen 9 5900. This is a slightly improved version of our favorite CPU ever, the Ryzen 9 5900X. [Both, of course, have RTX 3080s.

The Intel-powered R12 comes with 16GB of memory, a 512GB NVMe SSD, and a 1TB HDD. After all, this is a PC intended for high-end gaming.

While the Ryzen-powered R10 appears to be well suited for gaming, a few notable improvements make it a bit more suitable for demanding content creation tasks and professional work as well. 32GB of DDR4 memory is on board, which works well with the 12-core chip and It will work well together. Also included is a 1TB NVMe SSD.
