PAX West will be held in September.

In December 2020, Penny Arcade announced an "optimistic" date for the 2021 PAX event. However, some clarity has emerged in recent months, and PAX West has been confirmed as an in-person event in September.

Not surprisingly, PAX West 2021 will be smaller than the pre-Covid event. Details have not yet been finalized, but organizers are currently "working with venue officials, local government and health authorities to determine the reduced event capacity and ensure a safe environment." More information on health and safety protocols will be released closer to the show.

"It's been almost two years since the last PAX West, and it was unrealistic to imagine its triumphant return," said Jerry Holkins, co-founder of Penny Arcade. I can't think of a better excuse to leave home than PAX West."

Washington State's Infection Numbers Still High: According to KOMO News, state officials reported nearly 1,100 new cases, 72 hospitalizations, and 10 deaths over the weekend. However, the state is now near or slightly above 70% vaccination coverage (estimates from the state Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control differ). Once officials determine that they have exceeded that goal, the Washington State Department of Health says, "it will be open for business and recreation, and those vaccinated will, for the most part, be able to lead normal lives." However, restrictions will be placed on "large indoor events such as sports, concerts, and conventions."

Tickets for PAX West, scheduled to run from September 3-6, will go on sale within the next two weeks for $60 each for one-day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) admission and $230 for a four-day badge. pAX Online East, the cancelled PAX East digital event, which will take place July 15-18.
