Build your own maypole in Valheim!

A new patch for Valheim was released today, bringing two major changes to the game. First, the good news: Maypoles, previously only available in abandoned villages in the Meadows biome, are now craftable.

This is a nice boon for players, as maypoles provide additional comfort when resting within their range. Comfort affects the "rest effect" and increases XP gain and the speed of health and stamina recovery. The more comfortable you are, the longer you can benefit from the "rest effect."

The bad news is that, quite simply, you are now more likely to get your butt kicked and have things broken. The patch changes the AI of monsters, making them more likely to attack structures when they can't catch you (which may sound "particularly" ominous), and bosses no longer run away from you. Glidewarves now throw better, too.

Reaction to the patch on Steam has been somewhat mixed. Several users have said that Greydwarfs are already frustrating enough and that further frustration will only add to the frustration rather than meaningfully improve the game. They also complain about the pace of "big" updates: developer Iron Gate delayed its update roadmap earlier this month, and the first of four updates planned for this year is expected later this summer.

Valheim's 0.155.7 patch is now available. The full patch notes are as follows.
