Next season of Knockout City will feature new ball types, maps, and more events

One of the surprise hits of 2021 and one that I can't get enough of, Knockout City will be getting a ton of new additions when Season 2 begins in July. According to a blog post today from developer Velan Studios, Knockout City Season 2 will kick off on July 27, with new special ball types, new maps, special events (like the current Heatwave event), and contracts, cosmetics will be added.

If you're dodgebrawling like I am, the new special balls and maps should be pretty nice by now. Including the Jukebox Junction map, which was added in the first few weeks of the game, there are only six locations in total. Each map has a gimmick that will have a major impact on how the game unfolds (the garbage chute at Galaxy Burger and the traffic jam at Knockout Roundabout come to mind), and I can't wait to see what other tricks Velan has in store for us. Maybe it's time for a beach brawl with sand affecting jumps?

This is all outlined in the updated official roadmap, which gives a rough overview of the next 6 months for KO City:

The new special ball types are even more intriguing. The current five types (moonball, sniper ball, cage ball, multiball, and bomb ball) are quite varied, but the community has definitely found their favorites (and their least favorites) since launch. I share the same complaints that sniper balls slow down the action too much and multiballs are too easy to spam. I'm not sure if Veran has any plans to rebalance the existing balls, so I'd like to see more ball types added ASAP to increase the likelihood of playing with a ball that I actually enjoy.

What kind of balls will be available: ..... .Velan has teased something about balloons in a recent tweet, but it seems to be related to a new cosmetic or something, so don't take it as a sign that a balloon ball is in the works (although I'm curious to see what it will be).

The appeal of KO City's special ball is that basically anything goes, so here's my idea: a Ricochet ball. Similar to what a regular curveball can already do, but with it turned up to 11.

Meanwhile, Velan has a few more weeks to keep players busy with the Knockout City Heatwave event. If you haven't been cruising around each map picking up popsicles or earning simple cosmetics by completing simple contracts, now is the time to do so.
