The Australian Classification Board evaluated id Software's "Project 2021B".

Id Software fans have discovered a listing on the Australian Classification Board titled "Project 2021B" and speculate on what appears to be a new project in development. The game is designated M for violence and online interactivity and is a multiplatform "computer game" developed by id and published by ZeniMax Europe.

If this strange title rings a bell, you may recall another id Software development, Project 2021A, also discovered in January via the Classification Board's website and published by Bethesda. There are some differences, however: Project 2021A is rated R18+ for "high impact violence" and its media type is virtual reality, so sites like TechRadar predict that a "Doom Eternal" VR game is in development

Meanwhile, the "Doom Eternal" VR game is in development.

2021B, on the other hand, appears to be a traditional video game, and its rating is much lower than Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal. This is two steps higher than 2021B's M rating. (M and R18+ are separated by the MA15+ rating given to games with "strong violence.")

It is also possible that there is a direct connection between the two projects: the former is a completely independent Doom VR game unrelated to Eternal, while the latter could be a non-VR version of the same thing. Quake 2's 25th anniversary is next year.

Whatever it is, Bethesda has so far remained silent: studio representatives have refused to comment on the rating. We will inform you if there is further news.
