Microsoft Admits Windows 11 PC Health Check Was "Unprepared"

Microsoft has temporarily suspended its star-studded PC Health Check App in response to user feedback; the Windows team says the app will be back in time for the launch of Windows 11 later this year.

The PC Health Check App was intended to provide an easy way to check Windows 11 compatibility on Windows 10 machines in preparation for the new OS launch. The app would indicate that your PC does not support Windows 11, but would not explain why.

Microsoft tried to patch users with a little more guidance: when the app told users they could not upgrade to Windows 11, it was accompanied by a small message indicating why. However, this was clearly not enough either.

The PC Health Check App has now been removed to an as yet unspecified later date. At least we know that it will appear prior to the launch of Windows 11 in the fall.

"Based on feedback to date, we acknowledge that we were not fully prepared to share the level of detail and accuracy expected of us as to why Windows 10 PCs do not meet upgrade requirements," the Windows Insider blog post states. It states. 'We are temporarily removing the app so that our team can respond to feedback. We plan to bring it back online for general availability this fall."

If the last thing you heard before the app was shut down was that you could not upgrade to Windows 11, check the Windows 11 system specs. Also, if you are wondering what the heck TPM 2.0 is, check out our TPM 2.0 Guide.
