General
Battlefield 2042 will maintain a partnership with Nvidia to support DLSS and Reflex latency optimization.

Battlefield 2042's "official graphics platform" is Nvidia, and the upcoming 128-player shooter is the "next generation GeForce RTX gaming technology" (also known as Cool Reflex), Nvidia DLSS, Nvidia Reflex latency optimization will be supported.

"Battlefield 5" is one of the RTX showcase games that spawned the "RTX on" meme, so it is no big surprise that EA and Nvidia are partnering again. (AMD cards performed well in our BF5 performance tests, so perhaps owners need not worry.)

GeForce card owners can get some Nvidia-specific feature support; DLSS is Nvidia's oft-used deep learning technology, and in my experience (mostly in Control), does a pretty good job of improving performance without sacrificing quality It does a pretty good job of improving performance without sacrificing quality.

Nvidia Reflex is newer. Introduced last year, this toolkit is used in Valorant, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and other multiplayer shooters to "fully synchronize the GPU with the CPU" to reduce render latency and ensure that frames are not stuck in the render queue. (In other words, it keeps the mouse from getting stuck in the render queue. (In other words, when you move the mouse to aim, the new image generated appears on the display a few milliseconds sooner.) There is also the ability to measure latency if you have a monitor and a mouse; we tested Reflex on several games and found a slight reduction in input latency. You can read more about this technology on Nvidia's website.

EA also announced other partners for Battlefield 2042 today: the Xbox Series X and S are the official consoles; EA has yet to announce any exclusive DLC or bonuses for Xbox players, so this seems purely marketing at this point. The official PC peripheral partner is Logitech, which will support Logitech's Lightsync LED control technology and include "in-game audio presets with optimized EQ for Logitech headsets." And storage partners are essential for big-budget game launches. (Finally, and most importantly, Battlefield 2042's off-road vehicle partner is Polaris, whose "real" Polaris Sportsman ATV will be one of the vehicles available to players in BF2042's near-future war. Other Polaris models are likely to appear as well. Exciting stuff!

Alright, not so much unless you're an ATV enthusiast, but we'll be getting proper information on BF2042 soon, EA Play Live will be held on July 22, and EA says they'll be revealing DICE LA's secret mode at this event. Rumor has it that it is a sandbox that pulls vehicles and weapons from past Battlefields, but nothing is known for sure. Another mysterious mode, Hazard Zone, will be revealed closer to the October 22 launch of Battlefield 2042.
