The "Medium" developer is currently working on the game with Konami, the publisher of "Silent Hill.

Horror developer Bloober Team announced earlier today that it has signed a "strategic cooperation agreement" with publisher Konami, reigniting speculation that it is working on a Silent Hill revival.

The Polish studio behind games such as Layers of Fear, Observer, and The Medium told GamesIndustry.biz in February that it was working on an established horror IP with a "very famous" publisher and had already announced the collaboration.

This morning's press release did not go so far as to confirm Bloober's involvement with Silent Hill. However, VGC reports that sources with knowledge of Bloober's plans say that at least one of the two projects currently in the works is "Silent Hill-related" (the other appears to be a sequel to "Observer").

Giving Bloober the keys to Silent Hill is a rather controversial concept. Reviewer Leana Hafer praises "The Medium" for its modern take on a very old type of horror (fixed camera, etc.). However, some might be more concerned, given the studio's history of making janky games that often deal with traumatic themes in a messy way and make heavy use of jump scares.

Fortunately, Bloober's territory for Silent Hill may not be exclusive: according to VGC sources, Konami has also outsourced Silent Hill games to "prominent developers" in Japan. Andy believes that Konami has really botched the trick by not entrusting the series to Remedy, claiming that the developer at the controls is perfectly poised to bring the strange, unique, and quietly sad voice that Silent Hill craves.
