Call of Duty: Modern Warfare returns with elusive new map

Activision gave "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" players a surprise update in March, adding two new maps, Al Raab Air Force Base and Drainage Canal. The publisher is confident that these maps will be coming in the future.

"Modern Warfare (2019)," which appeared without fanfare along with the mid-season updates for "Black Ops - Cold War" and "Warzone," is the original "Killhouse" map from "Modern Warfare (2007) was resurrected, along with two brand new maps that, in hindsight, probably should not have existed.

Initially available only in private games, Infinity Ward quietly removed the map a week later, stating that it would eventually be brought back "after a little more love."

As Eurogamer discovered, the new map was restored in an update earlier today, with Al-Raab Airbase given its own 24/7 playlist, and Drainage can be tried on Gunfight's regular and Snipers Only playlists

It's a small addition to a game that has been mostly put on the back burner as Activision launches Cold War, Warzone, and Sledgehammer's still-unnamed Call of Duty later this year. Warzone is set in the Pacific War Battle Royale map that takes us back to the 1940s.
