For a small, compact gaming PC, you probably need an SFX PSU, a compact power supply unit with all the connectors you need for your gaming PC, but without the bulky form factor of the larger ATX models. But that is not always the case, as Cooler Master's new V SFX Platinum PSU proves.

This is enough power to drive an RTX 3090 in a PSU measuring just 10 x 12.5 x 6.4 cm. [These are the V1300 SFX-L Platinum, a 1300W model, and the V1100 SFX Platinum, an 1100W model. [The V1300 SFX-L Platinum is the 1300W model and the V1100 SFX Platinum is the 1100W model. Otherwise, they are very similar. Both are rated 80 Plus Platinum, which is appropriate for the PSU's efficiency, and come with 92mm fans to keep temperatures at acceptable levels. They are fully modular PSU designs, so there is no need to manage valuable space with cables.

Both models come with a 10-year warranty, which is what you would expect from today's top PSUs.

However, the exact PSU platform that drives the Cooler Master V SFX PSU has not been confirmed. The company recently introduced its own PSU design with the XG Platinum PSU, meaning that it created it entirely in-house rather than relying on another OEM's design and structure.

The arrival of two high-wattage SFX PSUs is an exciting prospect for small form factor PC builders anyway. With this much power, you don't have to worry about reaching the PSU's power threshold; you only have to worry about whether the components will actually fit in your Mini-ITX case of choice.

In fact, cramming close to 1300W of power into a Mini-ITX case is quite a task; Mini-ITX motherboards have only one PCIe port, not many other headers. Nevertheless, I am sure someone will figure it out. A truly overpowered PC, no bigger than a loaf of bread.
