Atlus Announces "Persona" Sales Reach 15 Million Units, Offers Merchandise Suggesting "Persona 6"

"It's starting!" and Atlus' announcement of a year-long "Persona" extravaganza did not at all dampen the hearts of the world's little ones. The series developer announced that it plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first game in September 2021, with seven new projects to be announced separately through fall 2022. The event's website also offers a variety of commemorative merchandise: "If you don't mind, this is a great opportunity to buy something!"

The first thing to do is to build anticipation: Atlas has celebrated anniversaries in the past by announcing somewhat minor projects, and (as in this case) has a habit of announcing that it will announce about teaser trailers. Not all seven projects will be games. They never are. Past anniversaries have included, for example, a one-off concert of Persona music.

But there is one major sign that something more exciting is on the horizon. It is a set of posters and trading cards. Computer ENHANCE!

No magnifying glass needed. Pictured above is the poster set, which features all the cover art from the first through the fifth Persona films, including the special editions, with two spaces at the end for new cover art labeled "Secret". And here are the trading cards.

The series mentioned above includes all the main characters from the main Persona series, and after 5, there is another card currently labeled "Secret."

In other words, the poster suggests that two new Persona titles will be announced in September, and that the trading cards will also feature new mainline protagonists. Persona 6 is confirmed."

Elsewhere on its site, Atlas also said that the announcement "will include a variety of events, collaborations, and of course, game information. Stay tuned."

Finally, the developer announced a landmark sale for the beloved JRPG series. This year, total worldwide sales of the Persona series surpassed 15 million units. We would like to thank everyone who has watched over and supported the Persona series over the years. The "Persona" series will celebrate its 25th anniversary in September. As a token of our gratitude to all of you, we are looking forward to another exciting year."
